Entering Summer

Summer plans for shows are being set, and spring activities are winding up; A recap—

“Moments of Joy” was held at Gallery840 in Allentown for the month of May. I was honored to asked to be a part of the show. Three of my pieces, “Nordic Poppies”, “Ode to Joy” and “Take Flight” were there- Poppies found a new home with a collector. There’s serendipity to a collector finding a piece of art- the person and the art must be at the right place at the right time. Then the magic happens, much like falling in love, you ‘just know’ it’s the piece for you. As an young artist, I always felt like you should paint a piece, and if it doesn’t sell right away it should be hidden away in a basement somewhere. But as my career has moved on, I find more pieces tend to find homes sometimes a few years after they have been created. Like love, it takes time to grow and find it’s match. I’m much more patient sending art out in the world to find it’s mate.

I was honored to create a painting for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Visionaries of the Year Event held May 18th in Scranton, PA. My work “Golden Hour, Frances Slocum Park” found a new owner at the charity auction. My cousin Michael Erat spearheaded the efforts for the fundraiser.

My personal goal is to create or donate at least one painting a month to a charity event- I have a piece due for the LEEK annual auction in Potter County for June. I will then be reviewing events for July and August for more opportunities to participate in.

Current show: the LAA Summer Show at the Luchenbach Mill in Bethlehem, PA. My painting “After the Storm” was accepted to the show. I am looking forward to stopping by to see the entire show.

Ongoing: Summer Shows at the ARTery in Milford PA; 9 landscapes are on display at this beautiful co-op space in Historic Downtown

Upcoming: LAA Honors Show at the Rotunda in Bethlehem

Have a safe and happy summer!
